Requiem

Requiem and Redemption

Tour Concert

February 10, 2012
7:30 p.m.
St. James Lutheran Church
Verona, WI

As we approach the stark season of Lent, you’ll enter a vibrant vineyard as we explore music of faith and the promise of redemption. You’ll savor Ellingboe’s lush Be Music, Night which hearkens the earth, stars and seas to shepherd our souls in beauty, and encounter the mystery of the divine in bread and wine in Messiaen’s O Sacrum Convivium. The melodic Lamb of God by F.M. Christiansen, tender Ubi Caritas by Durufle, and grand For God Commanded Angels to Watch Over You by Mendelssohn are offered with reassuring and exuberant psalm settings including Burzlaff’s There is a River and How Lovely is Thy Dwelling Place by Paulus. Featured is the beloved Faure Requiem with pipe organ, elegant solos and a chorus of angels that lead us to paradise. Come discover again the transforming power and ethereal beauty Faure’s famous choral masterwork, and music by Jennings and Forsberg, in a deeply satisfying moment for reflection and renewal.
