Thee We Adore Concert

Cathedral Concert

University of St. Thomas
St. Paul, Minnesota

As we approach the starkness of Lent, indulge your senses in a magnificent musical feast for the soul.  The sublime Son of God Mass by James Whitbourn brings the soulfulness of soprano saxophone into powerful communion with voices.  Lovingly set by Caracciolo, Jesus I Adore Thee captures our yearning to discover the savior through bread, wine, music and word.  Featuring organ and soloists, you’ll hear the mysterious and beguiling Rejoice in the Lamb offering the anguished poetry of a madman in search of God.  Britten sets the writings of Christopher Smart summoning all creatures to glorify God who plays upon a “harp of stupendous magnitude and melody.”  Clausen’s delightful Canticle of Praise, music by Byrd and Christiansen, and Snow Had Fallen, Christ was Born by Paulus prepare our hearts for the season of reflection and sacrifice.
